Web traffic is the amount of users that you get to come to your website. If you have a brand new site then it is your job to see that you get the traffic you want. When the spider from the search engine comes to crawl your site the first time out you will not get a great result. One of those ways to improve your ranking is to increase your traffic. There are several ways that you can do that.

One of the most popular ways to increase traffic is to your site is to place your site in a web directory. Though this method has come under fire recently. There are millions of web directories already on the web, if you can find a popular directory then place your site there but you may have noticed that hundreds of others have done the same thing. Another way to increase traffic is to find another website to link to. Find a site that is very similar to or exactly the same as far as subject goes and write an email to that person and them for a link on their site.

Some site owners will not have a problem with it and will provide you a link if you will provide them with one. Others will require a payment every month. If that site has great traffic which you can check through Alexa.com then it will be worth it in order for you to increase your traffic. Web traffic does not happen overnight. You really have to have a lot of patience in order for you to have a website. It may tale a while if you are looking for natural traffic but if you can get some traffic through the directories and links then at least you are on the right track.
