Increase Your Website Traffic
Remember the very beginning? At least for me, I built a site and found another site that would submit to 200 search engines for free. I knew that the traffic would start coming in as soon as I was listed. I remember the day I could find my site in Google. I just checked stats hourly to see the influx of visitors. Well, a lot of you know the rest of the story…nothing happened. About a week later I came crashing back down to earth with a thud. Getting traffic is a commitment that never ends.
I have done a lot of reading, testing, failing, succeeding and thought I would give you some of the ways I have used to increase website traffic. Oh, these methods are absolutely free and if you take the time to work on these, you may be surprised how consistent the work. Writing Articles There are two benefits to writing an article and getting it published: At the bottom of every article there is a resource box that you put your URL in. This box will increase your links linking back to your website which will help increase your search engine position. Here are some submission sites that are real good. The other benefits is that people who are interested in your article will read it and since they have some interest already, click through traffic to your site will be a little more targeted. Hopefully these more targeted visitors will find your website interesting as long as you are writing about a related topic. Forums Remember to contribute and don’t spam! Reciprocal Links Reciprocal linking will benefit you in a couple ways. The first one is obvious the more links you exchange the better chance you have of someone coming to your site through those links. If you link with sites that are relevant to yours, search engines will perceive your site as trusted and you will have a better chance of a higher ranking. Email Signatures This may be an overlooked way of getting your URL out to a lot of people. If you are send out a lot of emails a day, a simple signature added to your email with a little description along with your site can lead curiosity seekers a chance to click on your site. Keep it short and not to obtrusive and you may be amazed at the results. Using Social Bookmarking Sites There are many social bookmarking sites popping up everywhere. Some of the more popular ones, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg and Del.icio.us just to name a few can give you instant traffic boosts. The biggest downside of this kind of traffic is that it is from a non-targeted audience and you may not get any to stick with you no matter how interesting your site is. Thus the challenge, how to keep the attention of someone who was at your site for less than 20 seconds? The best advice I can give is have an attention getter on your front page and make your site as appealing and organized as possible. With this method you will see tons of hits and you are just hoping to keep a little bit each time the peak comes. Popularity: 6%
There are a lot of discussion forums on the internet with every possible topic covered you could possibly imagine. Some of these forums allow you to attach signatures to your post like a URL or name. By finding these forums and being an active member with informative posts, you are adding back links to your site with each post as well as building good networking opportunities.
