Keyword Stuffing

Many newcomers to the webmasters game tend to add a lot of keywords top their content in hopes of getting more results from a  search engine. But  for those new to the web who really are just getting used to how things work , stuffing your site with keywords in order to get results is very unethical and it is considered to be Black Hat in the world of Search Engine Optimization. Many times keyword stuffing begins in the meta tags or in the content. It may sound like a great idea but the truth is that is not the right thing to do.

Sometimes keyword stuffing is not done in plain site, what sometimes happens is that they create a text using CSS to hide the keywords in the background of the website, so that it is not visible to the naked eye. Another popular device to keyword stuff is called no script tags. Though this method is said to be acceptable, it is really up to the search engines on whether or not they want to give you ranking for it. But some webmasters can over use it and that the search engines will not accept.

In the sense of keyword stuffing, search engines will accept some methods and therefore you can consider that White Hat and other methods are definitely frowned upon which are considered Black Hat. Many people use keyword stuffing as a form of spamming or spamdexing. Spamdexing is a technique used in many ways in order to change the relevancy of information that is already indexed by the search engines.

When you are trying to get noticed in the search engines try as much as you can to keep every thing you do on the up and up. You want your web experience to be a positive one so don’t get penalized for something so petty. It takes time and hard work in order to get rewarded for it.

Working with Keywords

You want to get your website ranked in a good position in the search engines, one way to do that is by users typing in the name of your website into the  browser. The second way is for users to go with a keyword. A keyword is a word or phrase that specifically have to do with your site. For example, if you have a website about swimming pools, then your keyword would be swimming pool or pools. So when a user types in the word pools into the search engine they will find your site.

A great way to choose your keywords is to choose a subject and then look up the keyword and see how many times it is searched for in the engines by suing a keyword tool. Just type in keyword tool and you will get some results choose Google Keywords it is the best. Or another way is to put your self in the place of the user . If you wanted to find your website what keywords would make sense to you. Then you can also ask other people what they think of when they want to look up a site on the subject that you have chosen.

Once you have established what keywords you are going to use, it is very important not to over stuff your content with the keywords. Only a very small percentage of your content should have keywords. But using  too many keyword the search engine will actually penalize you for what they call keyword stuffing. Try to only use the keyword about 5 percent on each page. Mention these words only about 5 or 6 times on a page. The idea is to get noticed by the search engines not get punished by them.
